creative yoga for children
move, stretch, imagine, relax....
red tree yoga currently offers yoga sessions for children aged 3-18 years, including yoga in schools, universities, colleges, special schools and in settings outside formal education.
The creative yoga approach is a unique fusion of yoga, drama, music, storytelling and creative movement. It is an interdisciplinary approach to yoga, drawing upon Parmjit Sagoo's extensive experience as a drama practitioner, creative learning specialist and yoga teacher.
red tree yoga for children offers every child the opportunity to explore their intuitive nature, creativity, imagination and spirituality. The sessions allow children to engage in movement, play and self-exploration within a safe and caring environment.

What are the benefits of yoga for children?
A regular yoga practice will help children find a sense of stability. This will enhance a child’s feeling of self-worth and can boost levels of confidence in the early years of their life. A well-rooted confidence stands much less chance of being lost later in life. Yoga offers children the chance to develop their inner strength and security, helping them to cope within an ever changing, unpredictable and competitive world.
Yoga will enhance children's concentration, awareness and focus.
Yoga helps improve children's flexibility and balance and tones their muscles too. It makes them stronger and less likely to suffer sprains and fractures through accidental falls. Children are born with an innate flexibility and yoga poses help to prolong this gift.
Yoga poses vary from balancing, strengthening, twisting, back bending, and inverting. All of these poses have the ability to teach a child about their body, enhancing body awareness.
Children who practice yoga regularly feel good about themselves, feeling healthy and happy. They feel both mentally and physically rejuvenated after a yoga session and this improves their mental and physical health.
When a child is able to display great agility and flexibility, it does wonders for their confidence. They become more poised and start to believe in their abilities. This feeling provides them with the confidence they need to achieve success in all their endeavours.
Children are subject to a great deal of stress in the modern world. Yoga helps them relax and de-stress when they feel upset or depressed. It is a physical exercise that produces happy endorphins. While breathing exercises slow down the heart rate, relaxation techniques are powerful sources for calming the mind and the body. Children will learn to understand the importance of inner peace and can carry it with them into their daily lives.
Yoga inspires children to creative and self-expressive. It invites them to tap into their own creativity and use their boundless imaginations without judgment.
Yoga for children involves group and partner work, inspiring children to be kind, patient, accepting, and emphatic with themselves and their peers.
Yoga takes discipline. Ideally, when children learn at a young age the benefit of a committed practice, it ripples out into their everyday life activities, relationships, and responsibilities. They learn and accept that life is a path with good days, bad days, and everything in between.
'When I come into yoga I feel hyper and over-excited. While we are doing all the movements I can feel myself calming down. By the end, I feel relaxed and really calm.' Thomas K (Year 6 student, aged 11)
'Yoga makes me feel happy.' Humairah (Year 6 student, aged 11)
