Be The Change Theatre is a new beyond the mat project.....
Using Parmjit's extensive expertise and experience in drama, creative movement and devising original theatre,
Be The Change Theatre is a theatre and drama project which aims to explore social responsibility, empowerment, having a voice and taking creative and dynamic action to help our local and global communities.
Through using creativity and the arts, this project encourages individuals and groups of people to 'act for change'.
Participants of 'Be the Change' Theatre projects become 'agents of change' who collaborate and put into action creative projects that raise awareness of inequality and injustice, helping to bring about positive social change.
This is a new venture and below are some of the projects that have helped shape and develop what will now be known as Be The Change Theatre......
'Beyond the Wall'
A deeply moving youth theatre piece exploring barriers, borders and conflict resolution. Devised and produced in collaboration with Dunkirk Primary's youth theatre company, choir and Rastaala School in Finland.
'Get Up Stand Up'
A flashmob promoting and raising awareness of children's rights, devised and performed in collaboration with Year 4 students from Dunkirk Primary School
Lockerbrook Camp, 'Small Action Big Change'
An international linking project bringing together young people from the UK and Finland for creative explorations and global dialogues. This creative residential project explored the impact of greed and power and how peace can be achieved through conflict resolution and community building. A unique adaptation and performance of the story of 'Scrooge', an exploration of greed, power, acts of kindness, compassion and care. Performed by students at Dunkirk Primary School. More information about this performance is in the blog!
