acts of kindness
Yoga is more than just practising asanas, it is a way of being.
The yoga we practice off the mat is as important as the yoga we practice on the mat.
All human beings have a natural capacity for kindness, it is an essential aspect of civilized human life.
Kindness belongs in every home, school, neighbourhood, and society.
Red Tree Yoga's acts of kindness project explores how to live a life full of kindness and compassion for ourselves and others.
The mission of our acts of kindness project is to promote and celebrate the importance of kindness, to nurture the innate kindness within us all, inspiring individuals and communities to be more caring within their everyday lives.
A number of scientific studies prove that kindness has many physical, emotional, and mental health benefits. This research shows that practising kindness helps individuals to become healthy, happy, well-rounded individuals. Recent neuroscience studies reveal that practicing kindness increases the level of endorphins and serotonin within the body, these are the 'feel good' hormones and chemicals that stimulate the part of the brain connected to pleasure, trust and social connections. Even small acts of kindness can activate this response, creating a sense of wellbeing, increasing energy levels, and developing feelings of optimism, self worth and inner confidence.

red tree yoga offers a range of ways in which you can develop an acts of kindness project within your setting, including staff training for teachers or managers on how to teach and promote kindness within their settings as well as creative projects that inspire children and adults to take kindness into the wider community.
‘The children’s confidence and ability to work together thoughtfully and with care has improved. There has been an intensity and a power to children’s responses that is all too rare in the day to day running of school. The children have become more effective in working in teams, caring for each other,, thinking about themselves and other members of their class.’ (Teacher)

If you are interested in working with red tree yoga on bringing the acts of kindness project into your organisation or community, please contact us. We recognise that there is no one standard way of raising awareness of kindness within different settings and the project will design a range of bespoke experiences that are suitable for your context and situation.
