'In the midst of movement and chaos, find stillness inside of you.'
Traditionally Yoga means 'union' between the mind, body and spirit.
It is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. The practice originated in India about 5,000 years ago, and has been adapted in other countries in a variety of ways. The main components of yoga are postures (a series of movements designed to increase strength and flexibility), breathing, relaxation and meditation. Yoga is now practiced widely in leisure centres, health clubs, schools, hospitals and surgeries.
red tree yoga draws upon Dru Yoga as it's main influence. The word 'Dru' translates as 'still point', the calm that we all seek where we can be free from the stresses of our modern world. Dru Yoga is a graceful and potent form of yoga, based on soft flowing movements, controlled directed breathing and the power of visualisation. With it's foundations set firmly in ancient yogic tradition, Dru Yoga develops balance between mind, body and spirit, creating vitality and wellbeing.
Physically, yoga brings strength, flexibility and stability to the body.
Mentally, yoga can help to calm the mind, helping us deal with our lives with control, clarity and awareness.
Emotionally, yoga can support us in becoming more responsive, creative, open and positive.
Although it's grounding is in Dru Yoga, red tree yoga fuses this with aspects and inspirations from other yoga styles to provide a unique and creative yoga experience. It is designed to be practised by people of all abilities, fitness levels and age groups.
At it's heart, red tree yoga aims to provide a restful and safe space to move, stretch and flow, find your still point and restore your energy.
